The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to suspend the online registration of marriage. These changes have been made for a short period of time as the civic body is upgrading its software, SAP. Therefore, registrations are being conducted offline.
According to reports, the SAP system has been shut since 8 pm on July 9 and will remain so till 8 pm on July 21. All SAP servers, including the ones for registration of marriage and issuance of certificates, are required to remain shut.
Once the system has been upgraded, people can apply online to obtain their marriage registration certificate. Officials said the marriage registrar of the department will clarify any other queries of the public.
The office of marriage registrar at respective wards will be accepting offline applications and the date and time will be given for the interview.
Other services that have been affected are citizen services, issuance of purchase orders or processing payments, issuance of birth or death certificates from before the year 2016, FICO challans, licenses, building factory licenses.
For the last few years, various civic services and facilities of Mumbai Municipal Corporation have been being carried out through an online system in a very efficient manner. For detailed information on this, the marriage registrar of the respective ward department should be contacted.
