From Maharashtra, two teachers have been accorded the National Teachers Award for 2021, due to their immaculate work in the arena of teaching. The said award will be dispensed through the television system by President Ram Nath Kovind on September 5, 2021, in attendance of the District Collector.

Khurshid Sheikh, teacher of Zila Parishad Upper Primary School in Asaralli in the Sironcha Taluka of Gadchiroli district and Umesh Khose, a teacher at the Zila Parishad Primary School, Omerga Taluka in Osmanabad have been bestowed with this award.

Recently, the Union Education Ministry proclaimed the National Teachers Award for 2021. Amongst the 44 who have been acknowledged with this prestigious award in the country, two are from the state.

Khurshid Sheikh is revered in the arena of education as the headmaster and an enterprising teacher who has undertaken trailblazing steps in his school by adopting novel initiatives in the domain of education. To ensure that the student’s education is comprehensive, all required facilities are offered by the school through him. He is also said to have spearheaded educational activities to make the pupils sensitive, responsible with emphasis on value-based education. He also advocates the active participation of teachers and students through his academic activities.

Similarly, Umesh Khose is said to have created 51 offline apps to enable children in the hinterland to learn offline with the aid of technology. He also provided opportunities for self-learning by making videos. The first book has been translated and made into digital literature to ensure that students can attain education in their dialect.

In the backdrop of covid-19, the award ceremony is said to be undertaken through the television on Teacher’s Day on 5th September through the hands of the President in the presence of the District Collector at Gadchiroli.
