On Tuesday, February 22, Shiv Sena adopted the 5-year-old boy whose three family members died owing to a gas cylinder explosion in Worli’s BDD Chawl back on November 30, 2021, reports stated.
News agency ANI quoted Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar elaborating on how they have adopted him. She added that he’ll reside with his maternal grandfather in Maharashtra’s Pune. She further mentioned that they have given him financial aid of INR 15 lakhs.

Pednekar expressed that the boy is now Shiv Sena’s responsibility and thus, they will bear his educational expenses. The mayor stated that INR 5,000 – 10,000 will be sent to the boy’s account every month.
For those unversed, a gas cylinder blast transpired at BDD Chawl in Worli. Within six days of the mishap, three deaths were reported. The deceased include the survivor’s mother Vidya Puri (25), father Anand Puri (27) and his infant brother Mangesh Puri.
Post the death of the infant, reports began doing rounds wherein it was claimed that videos on social media allegedly showed that whilst the hurt asked for assistance, none of the hospital staff offered them help.
In light of this, the medical practitioners were claimed to be suspended for their alleged medical negligence. The sole survivor Vishnu Puri had suffered 15-20 per cent burns in the incident.
