Transport Minister flags off massive bike rally as part of KPB Hinduja’s annual intercollegiate festival 'Panaah'

Panaah, the annual intercollegiate fest of K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce organised a major event, 'Gulf Pride Safety Ride', on December 9, 2017. Professional bike riders from colleges all over Mumbai participated in this event which was flagged off from K.P.B Hinduja College premises.



Minister of Transport, Government of Maharashtra, Diwakar Raote Ji, flagged off the rally in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Vinayak Joshi, Company Secretary Gulf Oil Lubricants India Limited, Special Invitee, Mrs. Lisa Sadanah also famously known as Helmet Girl, Celebrity Guest, Mr. Abhinav Shukla. The event was also graced by Dr. Minu Madlani, Principal - K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce and Dr. Antara Sonawane, Convenor of Panaah. The main motive of this event was to promote 'Ride for Safety'.



Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Diwakar Raoteji, Cabinet Minister of Transport &Khar Land Development, Government of Maharashtra, said,“Traffic rules are crucial and any kind of negligence can lead to dire consequences, which can be both dangerous for your life and your loved ones. By conducting such events and distributing helmets among the participants and viewers, Panaah and its CSR partner Gulf Oil has not just set an excellent example of encouraging commuters to be responsible towards traffic rules, but has also played a pivotal role in ensuring safety measures on roads are followed with zeal and vigor.He also applauded the college's efforts in making citizens and students conscious citizens and safe riders."


Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Minu Madlani, Principal - K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce, said,“Such awareness initiatives have been of great advantage to the young students who drive their own vehicles. Not only such events instill the responsibility of safe and responsible driving in them, but also make them aware of the dangers that can occur due to the negligence of simple traffic rules and road safety measures.” 

Mr. Vinayak Joshi, Company Secretary of GULF Oil Lubricants LTD, on behalf of GULF Family welcomed the Minister and guests and wholeheartedly thanked the students of Panaah and other colleges that gathered for their immense support and making this event possible.Mrs. Lisa Sadanah, the Helmet Girl expressed how wearing helmet day to day has helped her being safe in different situations.Abhinav Shukla shared experiences from his past accidents and expressed how important it is to wear a helmet while riding.



As part of promoting safety ride, Panaah and its CSR partner distributed helmets to all the bikers who were participating in the rally. K.P.B Hinduja College through its annual fest Panaah has always promoted social causes and this year, along with the bike rally, Cleanliness Drive and Play For a Cause to support Women Empowerment were held.



K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce was established in 1974 by Late Shri ParmanandDeepchand Hinduja who was a harmonious blend of philanthropy and mercantile activities. His concern led him to establish the Smt. P.D Hinduja Trust in 1944 under the aegis of which the college was established. The institution functions under the guidance of the Hinduja Foundation which is a part of the Hinduja Group that was established in 1944.
