Mumbai: Gujarat took an all important 63 run lead in the 1st innings at stumps on day 2 in the finals of the Ranji Trophy against Mumbai.
Gujarat resumed at 2/0 in the morning but lost their opening pair.
Abhishek Nayar and Shardul Thakur got the opening pair and Gujarat were reeling at 37/2. But baby faced veteran Parthiv Patel took the onus on himself and forged partnerships with the middle order and gave stability to the gujarat batting. Parthiv missed out on a century and was out on 90. Manpreet Juneja made 77.
At stumps, gujarat made 291/6, with an all important 63 run lead and 4 wickets in hand.
Abhishek Nayar picked up 2 for 91.
Tomorrow will be a very crucial day for Mumbai as they will have to take the remaining wickets quickly and then the Mumbai batsmen will have to work hard to get back in the game.
Looks like Gujarat are in the drivers seat in this Ranji finals.
