Pearl Amalsadiwala was on a roll and easily won both her Junior Girls’ Group-B matches in the CCI Juniors Prize-Money Table Tennis Tournament 2020, conducted under the aegis of the MCDTTA and played at the Cricket Club of India Table Tennis Room, on Friday.
In the opening match, Pearl played her usual attacking game and tamed Shanaya Parekh winning in straight games at 11-2, 11-5 and 11-7. Later, she returned to the table and comfortably defeated Mrunal Kurade 11-7, 11-2 and 11-6 to record her second win in the group.
Ananya Chande also enjoyed a good outing and she too emerged victorious in both her Group-B matches. In her first encounter, Ananya started aggressively against Mrunal Kurade, but due to a slight lapse in concentration, she lost the third before regaining her composure to win the fourth to clinch an 11-3, 11-3, 14-16 and 11-4 victory.
In the second match, Ananya faced initial resistance from Shanaya Parekh but came into her own and went to carve out a 13-11, 11-3 and 11-9 win. On the other hand, Hardee Patel and Sana D;Souza also had a successful day, both winning their respective Group-A encounters and are certain to qualify for the semi-finals.
