The city was busy celebrating the festival of Holi over the weekend but the players of Charni Road Eagles and Churchgate Lions were sweating it out at girgaum chowpaty playing ‘footie’ that is australian football.
This was a practise match for both the teams before the major tournament that will be played in the last week of April.
Charni Road Eagles beat Churchgate Lions 31-25. Rajeev and Rehan scored 2 goals each for the Eagles where as Akshay scored 2 for the Lions.
Sumesh Sawant who is the organizer as well as the captain of Mahim Cats said that this was to keep the players match fit before the tournament. He also said that the match was supposed to be played at Shivaji park but the venue was changed at the last moment. Mumbai has 6 Australian football teams- Matunga Tigers, Mahim Cats, Charni Road Eagles, Churchgate Lions. Grant Road Bombers and Mumbai Central Giants.
