Churchgate - The India U 19 team lost to their English counterparts by 23 runs in the first match of the 5 match youth ODI international series here at the Wankhede stadium on Monday.
Batting first, England made 256/7 with opener Harry Brook scoring 51 and wicket keeper Ollie Pope contributing late down the order.
India got a great start with Himanshu Rana scoring a well crafted 101 runs. But the England bowlers triggered a middle order collapse leaving India short by 23 runs.
Skipper Fisher picked up 4/41 and was the architect of England's victory.
The Indian team was distressed before the game due to the untimely death of their trainer Rajesh Sawant due to cardiac arrest.
