In a major achievement for Mumbai University, two of its students bagged four medals in the ongoing Khelo India University Games (KIUG) in Odisha. Interestingly, both these winners are twin sisters from Mumbai, Jyoti Patil and Aarti Patil.

On the opening day of the swimming events at the KIUG on February 24, the twin sisters ended up on the podium in the 200m breaststroke. While Jyoti Patil won a gold medal, Aarti Patil bagged a bronze medal in the swimming event. The duo also helped the University of Mumbai to clinch a bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar ended the fourth day of the Games on top with 11 medals, including six gold. Panjab University, Chandigarh gave a tough competition by winning 16 medals with 5 gold. Jain University, Karnataka is in the third spot with 7 medals including 4 gold.

The duo has been trained by their father, Bajirao Patil who aimed to participate in Olympics for India in swimming. However, as he could not fulfil his Olympic dream, he dedicated his life to teaching his skills to his daughters.

Between them, the twins have over a hundred medals over several events at the district, state, and national level.
