Mumbai FC was drubbed by East Bengal in their final league match of the I-League 4-0. East Bengal added agony to the already relegated Mumbai FC team by hammering them. East Bengal lead by 2-0 in the first half and further added a couple of goals later. Willis Plaza scored 2 while Bikash and Wedson score one each. East Bengal attacked well and took advantage of the lax Mumbai defence to score 4 goals.

The Mumbai FC side has been under pressure throughout the season with the new coach taking charge late in the season. Mumbai will have to play the lower division next year and work hard to get back in the main league. With talks of the probable merger of the I-league and the ISL, the future looks bleak for this team of Mumbai FC.

Former Mumbai coach Khalid Jamil, on the other hand, has done wonders with Aizwal FC who take on Shillong Lajong in their last league match and are close to an unprecedented title.
