Some very exciting and absorbing contests are on cards as all the eight franchises have picked the best teams, which include prominent players, and have selected established players for the individual events, during the Elite players’ auction of the Mumbai Games 2018.

The auction witnessed some intense bidding as the franchise owners were very keen to select the best possible to create formidable units to compete in the first-ever multi-sports extravaganza which is scheduled to commence from December 15, 2018- January 20, 2019.

Prashant More, the current Carrom World Champion (men), and Kajal Kumari, who was runner-up in the World Championship (women), have been selected by Central Challengers and Flying Falcons respectively.

Meanwhile, International Steven Dias will turn out for Holy Cross football team, which was picked by Central Challengers, while another high-quality player Colin Abranches who has played for various ISL clubs and currently with Castle Boys team will represent Thane Thunders.

In basketball, Northern Knights have come up with the perfect bids picking Savio Club men’s team and the Borivali YMCA Girls, while South Mumbai Seahawks have decided to select St. Dominic Savio (men) and Chembur YMCA Girls to represent them in the competition. Savio Club and Dominic Savio will face stiff challenges from Angels Gymkhana, which is owned by Flying Falcons and Mastan YMCA, the nursery of Mumbai basketball, which belongs to Navi Mumbai Ninjas.

Kunal Vazirani, who at No. 12 is the highest ranked Maharashtra tennis player, went to Western Warriors who have formed a formidable team by also picking Sharmeen Rizvi as their women representative. Midtown Mavericks managed to select Aditya Balsekar and Maharashtra No. 3 women player Rajashree Rathod and the pair are certain to boost the team.

Central Challengers have strengthened their contingent by choosing MithilAjgaonkar (rating 2332) for the chess event, while Thane Thunders have decided to select KushagerKrishnater (2305).

Midtown Mavericks are set to dominate the tables tennis events as they have managed to rope in Tanmay Rane and Shweta Parte.
