Mumbai girl Sudipta Kumar wins the CCI Ramesh Desai Tennis Championship title

In the All India Under-16 national championship, Sudipta earned 200 Indian Tennis Association (ITA) points whereas Sudeepti received 150 points.

Mumbai's Sudipta Senthil Kumar, who represented Maharashtra, played steadfastly in the match and defeated Sandeepti Rao of Haryana 7-5, 7-6 (3) in the finals and won the the girls’ singles final of the MSLTA - Yonex Sunrise 12th Ramesh Desai Memorial CCI All India Nationals Under-16 Tennis Tournament 2018. In the All India Under-16 national championship, Sudipta earned 200 Indian Tennis Association (ITA) points whereas Sudeepti received 150 points.

The Mumbai-based Sudipta started shakily as the Haryana girl Sandeepti overpowered the opponent and with three early breaks raced to a 5-1 lead. However, Sudipta despite trailing 2-5 showed no signs of panic and instead displayed determination as she managed and bounced back by winning five consecutive games to turn things around and take the first set in an hour an 9 minutes.

In the second she led 5-3, but the opponent recovered and the match result was decided by a tiebreaker. However, she made sure to make no mistake later and won the tie-breaker 7-6 (3) to win the set and claim the title of champion.

CCI President, Premal Udani and MSLTA President, Bharat Oza felicitated the champion Sudipta and runner-up Sandeepti with trophies and certificates.
