ONGC, Century Rayon record wins in Nadkarni Cup matches

Chembur- Mumbai Elite Division champions Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) showed great resilience scoring twice inside the first half to overcome a spirited Dena Bank 2-0 in an entertaining first round match.

Earlier, Century Rayon scored an upset 2-1 win against Union Bank of India. Shopam S scored the opening goal of the match to put Century in front in the 24th minute.

PIFA Colaba clash with HDFC at 1.30 pm and Western Railway meets Kenkre Under-19 at 3.30 pm on Friday.

The Nadkarni Cup is one of the oldest football tournaments in Mumbai. This year, 16 leading Elite and Super Division teams of the MDFA Leagues will fight it out in the 110th edition of the RCF Nadkarni Cup football tournament being organised by RCF Sports Club under the aegis of the Mumbai District Football Association.

RCF SC is organizing this tournament for the 10th successive year at their ground in Chembur. The champions will get a cash prize of Rs one lakh and the runner up team will get Rs 60,000.

Last year’s champions, Mumbai FC will not be defending their title as they are busy participating in the I-League. The Elite Division clubs include, ONGC, Air India, Western Railway, Mumbai Customs, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Karnatak SA, PIFA Colaba, Kenkre FC and
the Super Division teams are Reserve Bank of India, HDFC, Century Rayon, Dena Bank, Central Railway, Mumbai FC U-19 and GM Sports Club.
