Pratham Chauhan of Thakur College, Kandivali and Liane D'Souza of Podar International stunned their opponents in style to come out top in their respective categories of the Athletics event of Sports For All Championship, powered by Byju's here on Tuesday.
Pratham finished his U-18 Boys' 400m Run in just 0:58.55 secs to pocket the Gold medal, while Arnav Bhosle of Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School took home the silver for his effort of 1:00.61 mins. Don Bosco International's Joshua Noronha grabbed the third position by clocking 1:03.88 mins.
Liane D'Souza clocked an impressive 0:13.61 secs timing in the Under-16 Girls' 100m Run to corner the gold medal followed by Manasvi Kaushik of Ryan International who registered a total time of 0:14.44 secs. Jindal Vidya Mandir's Tisha Gupta also logged in her name on the medals tally after she finished the dash with a time of 0:14.47 mins.
The day turned out to be a memorable one for all the young athletes present at the stadium as the Jamaican sprinter and two-times Olympic Champion Yohan Blake felicitated the winners. Yohan, who was at the stadium, had a great time with the athletes and he not only gave away the winners’ medal but also obliged everyone with selfies.
In the Boys’ Under-14 Boys’ 600m competition, Udayachal High School's Angad G clocked an impressive time of 1:40.35 mins to claim the top prize. Aditya Alva of Bombay Scottish School (1:44.31 mins) and Akshay Sharma of Lakshdham High School (1.44.85 mins) grabbed silver and bronze respectively.
While there were a lot of winners on the day, it turned out to be special for Kimaya Tandon of Smt RSB Arya Vidya Mandir who registered a time of 1:03.58 mins in the Under-16 Girls' 400m Run, smashing the previous SFA record of 1:03:64 minutes.
Elsewhere, SFA's Tennis event, which is being held in the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association, is in its penultimate stage, with finals of both Girls' and Boys' categories scheduled for Wednesday.
