Under the 'PM E Bus Seva' scheme, the central government has sanctioned 100 eco-friendly air-conditioned e-buses for Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) transport service. Thane Lok Sabha MP Naresh Mhaske has assured that they are striving for more buses and the remaining central government subsidy.

A meeting of the Standing Committee on Urban Development and Housing was held in Parliament under the chairmanship of Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy. MP Naresh Mhaske attended the meeting as a member of this committee.

In the meeting, MP Naresh Mhaske thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for providing 100 air-conditioned comfortable e-buses for the service of Thanekars which will help in reducing pollution. Also, considering the increasing population of Thane city, MP Naresh Mhaske demanded that more buses should be given to Thane transport service.

In the subsidy given by the central government to reduce the financial burden on the TMC which is struggling to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic  MP Naresh Mhaske suggested an increase of INR 5 i.e. subsidy of INR 29 per km instead of INR 24 per km and reduction of the minimum distance requirement for the scheme from 200 km to 160 km.

He pointed out in the meeting that this change will make the scheme more accessible and beneficial for the citizens. MP Naresh Mhaske suggested that just as the central government is cooperating with the Thane transport service, it should also cooperate with the transport services of local bodies in other states of the country. Mhaske's suggestion was welcomed by other MPs present at the meeting.
