The citizens who commute by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses will reportedly now be able to get bus tickets at home.

In order to avoid congestion during the journey and disputes with the carrier over vacation money, it is learned that an attempt is being made to introduce a new mobile app in the first week of December.

BEST has decided to provide ticketing facilities to the passengers even if they are at home. At present, 2.5 million passengers are travelling daily by BEST buses. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the same number was around 32 to 35 lakhs. These passengers are provided with passes at the best bus depot or station, while daily tickets are obtained from the BEST carriers on the journey. However, mobile ticketing services are not yet available.

According to sources, a decision will be made soon on how many hours this ticket will be valid. Apart from this, it will also be possible to get a pass from the app. The app will have the facility to pay the ticket and the pass fees. During the journey, the passenger will have to show the ticket or pass to the carrier on this app.
