The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) had adopted the QR code method amidst the pandemic, however, it has gotten a mildew response so far.

Till now, only about 8,500 passengers have issued tickets using the QR codes. Meanwhile, the QR code was facilitated by the BEST administration since the month of July in a bid to fight the contagious disease. At that time, the administration expected a good response from the passengers, however, this prediction of the initiative turned out to be false.

Since July 16, BEST had started this facility in about 14 depots. After that, the services were extended to all the depots. Only 1,500 passengers responded in July, which was limited to 8,479 passengers by the end of August.

Meanwhile, during the coronavirus outbreak, the BEST has slowly and gradually increased the number of buses in order to help people in the city commute.

In the past, the BEST had been operating its full fleet of 3,500 buses which includes 120 double-deckers. The BEST undertaking has 27 bus depots, 51 bus stations and 112 bus terminals. With the Maharashtra government launching the 'Mission Begin Again' initiative on June 8, BEST started 2,132 buses on 82 routes in the city of Mumbai for people travelling to their workplaces.
