On Friday, December 24, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) proclaimed guidelines for those passengers arriving in Mumbai from Dubai in light of the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, highlighted reports.
In the order, the civic body mentioned that Mumbai residents returning to the city from Dubai will have to undergo a compulsory 7-day home quarantine this will be accompanied by an RT-PCR test on the seventh day, mentioned accounts.

These passengers need not go through an RT-PCR test on their arrival. Residents of Mumbai returning from Dubai who will be in-home quarantine will be followed by the Ward War Rooms for a week, stated the BMC.
Based on narratives, the civic authority elucidated that if their tests are negative, travellers will be required to self-monitor their health. On the other hand, if they test positive, they will be sent to institutional quarantine.
On the other hand, travellers from Dubai, residing in other parts of Maharashtra aren’t permitted to take public transport to get home. For them, vehicles will be arranged, the civic body stated in its order.
Apart from this, the order also mentioned that those passengers who have connecting flights to other parts of the state or other states will be permitted to do so. But it added that it will be the responsibility of the airport authority to apprise the concerned airport officer about travellers from Dubai.
In other developments, Maharashtra reported nearly 31 new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus on Sunday, December 27. With this, the tally has reached 141. However, of the aggregate, 61 have been already discharged, mentioned health department officials.
