As per reports, a bus has met with a major accident on Sion-Panvel highway on Wednesday, November 18.
The bus hit the subway shed near Taloja Link Road on the Sion-Panvel highway. A large number of passengers have been reportedly injured in the accident. The incident took place around 5.30 am on Wednesday.
According to sources, the driver has been seriously injured in the incident. Moreover, at least 10 passengers were reportedly injured which also includes a pregnant woman. The injured have been admitted to MGM Hospital Kamothe. As more news regarding the accident come to the forefront, preliminary reports state that the accident took place as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Earlier, an accident took place on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway when a tanker carrying milk to Mumbai overturned near the Khandala tunnel on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The speed of the tanker was said to be high during the accident. As a result, the tanker spun about 50 feet. However, the tanker did not hit any other vehicle, thus avoiding a major accident on the highway. It is not yet clear whether the body stuck in the tanker belongs to the driver or the cleaner.
Highway police data had earlier revealed that a total of 50 severe accidents occurred between January and September in the year 2019 leading to the deaths of 58 people. However, in the same period this year, 51 people have lost their lives in 43 accidents.
