Central Railway Launches 46 Summer Special Trains

To handle the high passenger demand during the summer holidays, Central Railway will operate 46 additional summer special trains starting April 2026. These services cover popular routes between Mumbai and Madgaon (Goa) as well as Mumbai and Santragachi (West Bengal).

Mumbai–Madgaon Special Trains

  • 20 weekly trains will run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Madgaon Junction (MAO).
  • For instance, Train No. 01019 departs CSMT every Sunday at 00:55 hrs from 5 April to 7 June 2026, arriving in Madgaon the same afternoon. Its return, Train No. 01020, leaves Madgaon at 16:00 hrs on Sundays and reaches Mumbai late at night.
  • These trains feature a mix of AC and sleeper coaches, stopping at major stations such as Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, and Sawantwadi Road.


Mumbai–Santragachi Special Trains

  • 26 weekly trains will operate between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Santragachi Junction (SRC).
  • Train No. 01001 departs LTT every Tuesday at 20:15 hrs from 21 April to 14 July 2026, reaching Santragachi early on the third day. Its return, Train No. 01002, leaves Santragachi at 15:50 hrs on Thursdays and reaches LTT late the same night.
  • Coaches include AC 2‑Tier, AC 3‑Tier (Economy), Sleeper, and General, stopping at key stations such as Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Raipur, and Kharagpur.

Ticketing Information

  • Reservations opened on 1 April 2026 via IRCTC and all computerized reservation counters.
  • Unreserved tickets for general coaches are available through the UTS mobile app or at station counters.

These summer special trains aim to provide smoother travel for holidaymakers and reduce congestion on regular services during peak summer travel.
