Central Railway (CR) has started work on modifying the design of platform number 10 and 11 at Dadar station so that passengers of Kalyan-bound trains can board and alight from both sides.

Double discharge platform

The double discharge platform is similar to CSMT and Churchgate, where passengers can enter or exit the train from either side.

There are currently 5 platforms in the CR section of Dadar station to handle suburban rail traffic. Platforms for fast trains also handle long distance trains Platform No. 8 handles slow corridor services towards Kalyan Platforms 9 and 10.

What is railways planning?

The expressway to Kalyan is a few feet away from Platform No. 11, from where long-distance trains and Dadar-terminating and originating express services ply.

A fence has been erected between the embankment and the expressway.

When trains enter platforms 9 and 10 at the same time, there is a huge rush.

Upgradation of platforms 10- 11 will allow Kalyan-bound fast trains to enter and exit from both platforms. The metal fence between platform 11 and the expressway leading to Kalyan will be removed. Also the food stall there will be shifted.
