Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is actively working on the Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) project. They’re trying to get the coaches to Mumbai and inspect them soon.
Tenders for ‘Rolling stock’ have been called for from international markets. Companies in Japan, Europe and China have responded positively.
Six companies have shown interest in the tender and now they’ll be asked to submit a formal application.
31 coaches have been ordered for the 33 km Metro-3 line. The coaches will be 22.6 km long and 3.2 wide.
The stunning part is, this train could run without a driver! Yes, it could be run automatically.
The contractor with deal with things from the design of the train to installing it in Mumbai.
