Central Railways (CR) has continued to hold the number one position in parcel traffic from June 2021 onwards. Reports stated that INR 28.01 crores for the month of December 2021 and in the financial year 2021-22 upto December it stood at INR 229.92 crores which is 159.78% more than the revenue of the corresponding period of last year.
Running of Kisan Rail which is helping farmers to send their perishables to far flung markets of the country resulted in growth of parcel traffic. During 2021-22 (upto December) 671 trips of Kisan Rail have been run carrying 2.38 lakh tonnes and earning a revenue of INR 90.76 crores. Since inception, Kisan Rail trips have touched 899 transporting 3.09 lakh tonnes and generating a revenue of INR 119.72 crores.
CR Ticket Checking Revenue Highest in Indian Railways
Continued drive against ticketless/irregular travel including unbooked luggage by Central Railway has resulted in detection of 3.33 lakh cases in the month of December 2021 and realizing a penalty of INR 19.54 crores from them.
During the period from April to December 2021, a total of 24.19 lakh cases were detected and a revenue of INR 144.23 crores which is the highest in terms of revenue among all Zonal Railways. According to reports, 27,887 passengers were penalized for not wearing masks.
CR first among Indian Railways in Non-Fare Revenue
Central Railway is placed first amongst all Zonal Railways in Non-Fare Revenue which during the year 2021-22 (up to December) is INR 19.03 crores which is 378% more than that of the corresponding period last year. Digital cloak room, e-vehicle charging points, app based e-wheel chair, etc are some of the major initiatives of Non-Fare Revenue.
