On January 12, 2025, the Uran to Nerul/ Belapur local route will complete one year. As the number of passengers on this route has increased, the number of passengers travelling without ticket has also started to increase. The railway department has informed that the daily ticket sales of 1 lakh has now come down to 50 thousand. The Uran to Nerul / Belapur route has provided a cheap and fast travel facility to the passengers traveling from Uran to Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. Everyday, 7 to 8 thousand passengers travel on this route on a daily basis. The number of passengers on this route is increasing day by day. However, as the frequency of this local train is one train per hour, it is affecting this travel route.

There is a demand to increase the number of trips of this train. Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has directly assured of this. The General Manager of Central Railway has also given similar assurance. Hence, it is hoped that from next year the local route on the Uran to Nerul/Belapur route will start at half an hour intervals. Due to lack of increase in local trips, passengers have started turning to the newly started NMMT bus service from Uran city.

Need for CCTVs

Despite the demand to install CCTV in the area of Dronagiri, Nhava Sheva and Shemtikhar stations on this route along with Uran station, it has not been implemented. Two recent incidents near Uran station and at Dronagiri station are prompting the need for CCTV cameras. About 30 percent of passengers traveling from Uran may be traveling for free, as the number of return tickets has reduced, said Rajesh Kumar, Chief Superintendent, Uran Railway.
