Ambernath likely to be declared as "Heritage Station"

The Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shirkat Shinde in Lok Sabha demanded the railway minister to declare Ambernath railway station as 'Heritage Station' demanding to redevelop it on lines of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Ambernath has historical and cultural significance as thousands of devotees from all over the country visit the 11th centuries historical Shiva temple in the city.

Therefore, the Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shirkat Shinde in Lok Sabha demanded the railway minister to declare Ambernath railway station as 'Heritage Station' demanding to redevelop it on lines of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Tourists, workers and devotees come to the city from Ambernath railway station using Mumbai's suburban railway service. Therefore, Ambernath needs to be declared as a Heritage Site to modernize and beautify this railway station with its industrial, cultural and historical heritage, Shinde added.

Shinde further said that this temple built in the 11th century is also a learning center for those who study historical architecture.

The Ambernath, city in Maharashtra, is also known as industrial city where there are over 160 manufacturing companies including Ordnance Factory, Rail Neer Plant in Ambernath city.

The state government has recently sanctioned a fund of INR 48 crores for beautification of this Shiva temple with the help of Archaeological department.

In addition, the temple built in the 11th century is also a centre of learning for those who study historical architecture
