On Wednesday, October 27, Chembur resident and the government staffer Rohit Sute became the first person to receive the BH (Bharat)-series special number plate. The Chembur resident received the number plate from the Minister of State for Transport Satej Patil.

While tweeting about the same, Patil wrote, "It gives us immense pleasure to announce that today the first beneficiary of BH registration in Maharashtra, Rohit Sute from Chembur, Mumbai received his #BHSeries vehicle."

Anyone from the state or centre, who is a government or PSU employee, is eligible to get this special number plate. Meanwhile, in the private sector, an employee of a company with offices in at least four states/Union Territories can get the BH number voluntarily.

The vehicle owner will have to apply by filling up Form 60 and giving valid employment ID/proof online. The concerned state authorities will verify the proof and assign the BH registration. Officials said that the registration number would be randomly generated by computer.

Maharashtra government had launched the BH (Bharat)-series number plates for vehicles that move from one state to another on Monday, October 25. Satej Patil had said that this would enable hassle-free travel.
