The ultimate tourist destination for Mumbaikars, Goa has high possibilities of a large crowd turning up on the occasion of New Year's Eve. To check the traffic flow on the conveyance path in the Raigad district, heavy vehicles will be banned on the Mumbai-Goa highway for three days, between December 29 to 31.

In addition to this, Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, the collector of Raigad district has ordered a deployment of a large number of coastguards during this period. This move has been carried out to ensure a smooth flow of traffic on all major roads and to prevent inconvenience to tourists due to massive traffic jams caused by big vehicles while traveling to Goa.

The entire planning for the blockade was done by the National Highways Department and the traffic police. For safety measures, boats used for travelling, including speedboats, and the boats which are used for adventure sports will have a set limit on the people they can carry. The Port Supervisor will be responsible for keeping a watch by patrolling at the tourist spots.
