Indian Railways to resume Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express from August; Read the details here

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is all set to resume services of Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Central Express from August 7. The Indian Railways will also begin New Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express services on the same day.

The trains will run four days a week on every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

“IRCTC Tejas Express Train no. 82501/82502 (LJN-NDLS-LJN) and Train no. 82901/82902 (MMCT-ADI-MMCT) have been reintroduced for booking with effect from journey date 07.08.2021,” it said in a statement.

Amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, passengers would be required to install the Aarogya app and go through thermal screening and luggage disinfection prior to boarding.

The Western Railway had suspended the services of Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express from April 2 due to the rise in COVID-19 cases amid the second wave.

Train tickets for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express can be booked online on www.irctc.co.in or the IRCTC Rail Connect app.

As per IRCTC, the key challenge for the service would be passenger traffic in the wake of COVID-19. For the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express, IRCTC saw 35 per cent occupancy post-pandemic services, compared to 80 per cent occupancy in the pre-pandemic levels last year, as per previous reports.

Moreover, the train will not have a tatkal quota or premium tatkal quota, only a general quota and foreign tourist quota as per the report. It will have six seats in Executive Class and 12 seats in Chair Car available for foreign tourists.
