After a long wait, the local train services for general public resumed from February 1. However, Mumbaikars expressed disappointment over the restricted time slot -- from the first service of the day to 7 am, 12 pm to 4 pm and 9 pm to the end of the day.

Taking a note of the displeasure expressed by commuters, BMC Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that since the local train services resumed, the authorities are keeping a close watch and will continue to be cautious for the next 15 days.

Even though the services have been started for all, there has been no rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the city, if this situation continues, there will be a change in the current schedule of the local trains within the next 15 days, Kakani added. However, he also suggested following the COVID norms like the use of mask, hand hygiene, maintaining social distance.

While talking to reporters, Suresh Kakani made this statement after being vaccinated at the Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central on Monday, February 8. He gave this information to the media at that time.

Moreover, he stated that eligible individuals would be vaccinated after the start of the third phase of vaccination. The vaccine is completely safe and there is no reason to panic. Apart from that vaccines for children are being tested at a hospital.

Earlier, the state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the interest of the people is the most important for the government. Hence, the state government will take a decision recognizing the needs and interests of the people. Rajesh Tope said, "Necessary changes will be made in the schedule of local services soon as per the interest and need of the people."

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP from Thane Rajan Vichare recently supported the opposition BJP's demand to change the current schedule of Mumbai local trains for the general public. In a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as well as the railway authorities, Vichare said the current local train timings for the common man are inconvenient. He urged the CM to change the schedule for the benefit of the commuters so that their time is not wasted.
