The rainfall has surely taken a toll on the roads across the state. In a similar instance, a major crack on Mumbai-Nashik Highway halted traffic which caused a lot of trouble for the commuters. The crack has been reported to have developed on Monday night after heavy rainfall.

Commuters had shared photos of the cracked road and thus, the footage began doing the rounds on social media. The photographs have been said to be taken from Kasara Ghat in Maharashtra.

After hours of trouble, the officials are now working round the clock to resolve the issue and are currently carrying out the repair work.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) officials had previously told media publications that the picture was from Karnataka-Maharashtra border. But soon, the Maharashtra State Highway police gave a clarification and rectified the information on Tuesday evening.

This is not the first incident of a crack developing on a highway as earlier, due to heavy rainfall, a patch of the road at the Mumbai-Pune Expressway near Adoshi tunnel had sunk by at least five inches.

In the meantime, all buses bound for Mumbai, Kolhapur, and Shirdi from Karnataka have been stopped, while the road between Ankola and Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district is also blocked due to inundation.
