Here’s Why Maruti Suzuki Will Be Recalling Over 1.8 lakh Units Of Some Of Its Models

On Friday, Maruti Suzuki India Limited made an announcement that it will recall 1,81,000 vehicles as part of its global recall campaign. Based on the regulatory filing by the company, it will be recalling 1,81,754 units of petrol-run cars, due to possible safety issues, highlighted reports.

Cars in the recall include, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, XL6, and S-Cross manufactured between 4 May 2018 and 27 October 2020. In the statement, the company mentioned that this is a voluntary recall to check the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). In case it’s found defective, they will replace the MGU for free.

According to reports, 63,493 units of Ciaz, Ertiga, and XL6 in 2019 have been recalled for the inspection of MGU. The company stated that replacement will begin from 1 November 2021, the company will contact those affected by this. In the meantime, the manufacturer has advised that its models that include Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Ciaz not be driven in waterlogged areas. Apart from this, they have been asked to not directly spray water on the electric components of the car which have been impacted due to this measure.

To verify if their car has been affected by this recall, consumers can visit Maruti Suzuki’s website and check the “Imp Customer Info” section. Herein they need to put their vehicle chassis number to verify if their car has been recalled in the campaign.
