Along with Mumbai, now Thane too will be connected soon through the Metro which is being constructed in phases. Had the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) taken the work of Metro-4 in their hands earlier, the dream wouldn’t have been drastically delayed for Thanekars. They have rejoiced as MMRDA commenced the work of Metro-4 along with Metro 2B on Monday, June 18.
In order to strengthen transport system in Mumbai, the MMRDA has foreseen the network of Mumbai Metro that will spread itself across the island. Among which, the Thane Metro-4 work i.e. Wadala-Ghatkopar-Kasarvadvali has been initiated by MMRDA. Accordingly, four months ago, five independent contractors for five different packages were appointed to track this metro route. The MMRDA Metro-4 will now actually begin the work after months and months of delay.
The Metro 2B, i.e. D.N. Nagar to Mandale route has also been started by MMRDA as a starter. MMRDA has told that the barricading work of both the routes has already commenced. Along with barricading, MMRDA has assured that the testing of pollution, surveying, geo-technical trials and service channels will also be finished within four months from now.
In response to the construction work of Metro 2B, the roads between D.N. Nagar and Mandale, and for the construction work of Metro-4, roads between Wadala and Kasaravadavali, have been barricaded and shut down. Due to which, the Mumbaikars might face trouble but MMRDA has asked the Mumbaikars and Thanekars for co-operation.
Along with this, MMRDA has also warned the citizens near the barricaded areas to stay alert and pay special attention to children at those sites.
