The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is all set to run its premium Shivneri buses on newly inaugurated Atal Setu, also known as Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), from Tuesday, February 20 on a pilot basis.

An official statement noted that two buses from Pune will leave daily for Mumbai and return back from Mumbai daily. The first bus will run between Pune Station-Mantralaya departing at 6.30 am and another bus route is between Swargate-Dadar, which will depart at 7.00 am.

However, there is no change in fare on the Mumbai-Pune route for these Shivneri buses.

It is expected to offer a swifter and more direct connection between Mumbai and Pune. The prospect of reducing travel time is a compelling factor for both regular commuters and occasional travellers alike.

With this, it will become the first public transport to make its way at India's longest sea bridge linking Sewri (Mumbai) and Navi Mumbai.

Notably, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) have also decided to start its service on the bridge.

Currently, the Mumbai-Pune route witnesses the operation of 210 Shivneri buses daily. These buses cover the distance between the two cities in four hours.
