The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) strike by the employees continued on Friday at 33 depots of an aggregate of 250 depots that were mainly in Nashik, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad divisions of the state bus corporation, highlighted reports.

Since drivers and conductors didn’t operate the buses, commuters bore the brunt at the 33 depots. Bus operations at the other depots, on the other hand, began functioning on Friday morning.

Based on accounts, a BJP union and a few other unions supported day two of the strike. The strike has been initiated for demanding the merger of the MSRTC with the Maharashtra government.

A day before, state bus drivers, as well as, conductors in addition to other staff decided to go on a flash strike across the 182 bus depots in the state. This hindered the functioning of almost 10,000 MSRTC AC and non-AC buses, leaving commuters scouring for a solution.

Recently, Maharashtra transport minister and MSRTC chairman, Anil Parab proclaimed a rise in dearness allowance. In addition to this, he also announced a house rent allowance later in the evening post which many workers resumed work on Friday morning. According to reports, this entailed staff in Mumbai and Thane who didn’t participate in the second day of protest on Friday.
