State Transport to get 700 new buses

The State Transport Corporation had proposed the purchase of 700 new buses with financial aid from the state government which was approved by Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. Accordingly, the details of the deal will soon be given to the state government.

In an attempt to improve the quality of its service, the State Transport Corporation is planning to introduce 700 new buses. Soon, the army of red will receive reinforcements and will replace its timeworn buses with the new ones. Accordingly, the state government will also provide financial aid to ST corporation in the purchase.

The proposal was put forward by the state transport wing and on September 6, State Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar approved the proposal to make the deal.

As the financial condition of ST has over the years weakened and in an attempt to revamp its image and provide better service throughout the state, the corporation is buying the new buses. In which, they have asked for financial aid from the state government to purchase 500 of the 700 new buses.

On Thursday, the finance minister conducted a meeting with ST officials at the Sahyadri guest house. During the meeting, Mungantiwar approved the proposal and assured ST that the state government will provide financial assistance to them. Alongside, Mungantiwar also approved their proposal for 200 buses for Pandharpur pilgrims. 

Meanwhile, the details of the deal will soon be presented to the state government by the State Transport Corporation. Thus, the passengers will have to wait a little longer for traveling on the new buses. The purchase of the new 700 buses is expected to cost ₹200 crore.
