BEST service has been continuously provided by BEST enterprise in Mumbai for many years. Single and double decker non AC buses have now been replaced by AC buses. After the non-AC double decker buses which were preferred by the passengers became obsolete, the electric double decker buses started running for the passengers. Efforts are being made to make these services available to more and more passengers. As part of these efforts, a decision is being taken to increase the fleet and run these trains on some new routes.
The number of double-decker e-buses, which came into service a year ago, is currently 50. 30 of these double decker buses are plying through Fort, Nariman Point, Cuffe Parade which are known as commercial hubs. Currently, all the double decker buses in the fleet of BEST are on lease and the BEST has decided to increase their number in the coming months.
The BEST initiative is focusing on increasing the fleet of AC double deckers. The aim is to introduce 200 more double decker buses by April-May for the convenience of passengers. The BEST initiative has also opted for some new routes for double-decker buses. It includes Route No. 123. Which was earlier in RCS discussion to Tardeo and from there to Marine Drive. Also, other routes such as Vileparle to Juhu, Churchgate to Nariman Point, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Gateway of India are proposed.
