In the view of increasing ridership in the air-conditioned (AC) local trains in Mumbai, the Western Railways (WR) has planned to introduce more 8-10 such services by October end.

This development came days after the railways issued a fresh timetable after the induction of more than 30 AC local services, which will come in force from October 1, 2022.

However, an official stated that a new timetable is being worked out for these new trains. Though, the introduction of vestibule rakes may take a while longer as the nod of the Railway Board is awaited. But this rake is kept ready, officials further stated.

They also exclaimed that these new services will be of most benefit to commuters of the 7.54 am AC service, which earlier used to run between Borivali and Churchgate but was later extended up to Virar. If reports are to be believed, commuters have submitted a petition with over 1,000 signatures demanding a rollback in this decision.
