On Thursday, the Maharashtra government launched a virtual e-pass program that enables those who are fully vaccinated to use the local train services. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Universal Travel Pass program enables citizens to procure the e-pass with ease. The link developed by the government, through which one can access the said facility is https://epassmsdma.mahait.org

Based on reports, the Relief and Rehabilitation Department of the state developed the online facility to enable those working in the essential sector to access the e-pass for travel. On the same link, the facility is now being made available to those who are fully vaccinated and have completed 14 days since, to be able to travel by the local trains.

Here’s how one can get the e-pass:

  • Those eligible must go to https://epassmsdma.mahait.org
  • Then click on “Travel Pass” for vaccinated citizens
  • Details then need to be provided which include the mobile number that they have registered for their vaccination. Post this, an One Time Password (OTP) will be sent via SMS
  • The OTP then needs to be entered, post which further information such as Beneficiary Name, Beneficiary Reference Number, Mobile No and more will appear
  • After entering the details one needs to click on the “Generate Pass”, through which details of the applicant that includes the dates of the vaccination and more such information will appear
  • Post this, in the Self Image option, the person needs to upload their photographs that can either be uploaded from their gallery or clicked on the camera
  • Once this is done, a message via SMS will be sent mentioning that a link will be sent in 48 hours
  • Upon receiving the link, the e-pass needs to be saved
