A recent survey conducted by RedBus, India's leading online bus ticketing platform, has shed light on the top 10 busiest routes in India during the extended weekend leading up to May 1. The survey found that the Mumbai-Pune route was among the top 10 busiest routes. There are a total of 52,000 bus services provided by 3,500 private bus operators and 17 state road transport corporations.
The survey also revealed that an estimated 80 lakh passengers may have taken buses during the long weekend, indicating a 20 per cent increase in reservations compared to the previous year. Other popular bus routes during the extended weekend included Dibrugarh-Guwahati, Guwahati-Tezpur, and Delhi-Manali.
The findings of the RedBus survey highlight that the importance of bus transportation in India, particularly during holiday periods when millions of people travel to visit family and friends or go on vacation.
