In order to tame the increasing crowd at railway stations, Western Railway (WR) has decided to improvise the old timetable by adding new local trains and by extending the routes of some. According to the changes, WR has decided not to halt Virar-bound fast local trains between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. Along with this, 20 new services will be introduced on the trans-harbour line that will now run up to Goregaon instead of Andheri.

The changes will be made post-November 1, 2018, by adding 10 new services between Virar and Dahanu. Likewise, 20 new services will be introduced between Andheri and Goregaon. This move will help commuters who travel on the harbour line.

WR has also decided to do something for women commuters who travel in clustered local trains between Churchgate and Virar. Considering the less number of local trains for Virar, WR has decided to extend the halt of 6:59 pm Churchgate-Bhayandar local train to Virar station. Likewise, 9:56 am Vasai-Churchgate local train now will start from Virar railway station.
