Maha Mumbai Metro has set a new national record. 51,991 tickets were booked using WhatsApp on a single day. This is the highest single-day WhatsApp ticket usage by any metro in India. The milestone marks a major achievement in digital ticketing.

The record was set on Metro Lines 2A and 7. 19% of all tickets were booked through WhatsApp. This is the highest share of WhatsApp ticketing in the country. 44% used the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). Only 2% used the mobile app. Paper QR tickets made up 35%.

The WhatsApp ticketing service was launched on October 11, 2024. It was part of a larger plan to make metro travel smarter, faster, and greener. The service became popular quickly.

Digital ticketing is growing fast in Mumbai. Commuters use WhatsApp to buy tickets instantly. It is simple to use and helps reduce paper use. In April 2025, 65% of all metro riders used digital methods.

Metro Lines 2A and 7 also saw a ridership record. On the same day, 292,575 people used these two lines. This was the highest daily ridership so far. The busiest stations were Gundavali and Andheri West. These stations had the most foot traffic. They also had the highest number of digital ticket sales.
