Most of the people who commute by Mumbai’s local train must’ve been really pleased when e-payment was brought into play by the government but there’s been a massive blunder by a railway clerk at Borivali West.

Vikas Manchekar, a Dahisar resident, had a bad day when a railway clerk swiped a sum of INR 1.3 lakh instead of INR 1,333.30 from his credit card. This happened at Borivali station on August 4 when he was buying a quarterly first-class pass for the Andheri-Borivali route.

Manchekar notified the railway officials and also his bank. He also visited Mumbai Central, where WR's Mumbai division office is located, to pursue the matter.

As reported in TOI, WR’s chief public relations officer Ravinder Bhakar said that disciplinary action had been initiated and charge sheet was also issued to the booking clerk. WR has deputed personnel to pursue the matter with the State Bank of India to get the amount refunded in the commuter’s account at the earliest.

Let’s hope the man gets his money back and the railway employees don’t make such a blunder again.
