Mumbai division of Central Railway (CR) has imposed a temporary ban on sale of platform tickets at major stations to tackle overcrowding and improve passenger safety. However, the restrictions are enforced at a designated time frames especially during evening time, which is considered at peak hours.

This came into effect from June 16 and will continue to remain effective until July 15, 2023.

The new regulation will be applicable at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Thane, Kalyan, and Panvel stations.

The restricted hours are from 6 pm to 12.30 am at CSMT and Dadar, 7 pm to 1.30 am at Thane, 6 pm to 1.30 am at Kalyan, 6.30 pm to 1 am at LTT, and 11 pm to 2 am at Panvel.

However, CR has permitted senior citizens, persons with disabilities and women with children in arms or accompanied by one escort to purchase platform tickets during the restricted hours.

A CR official said that these measures are intended to create a safer and more manageable environment for commuters during peak hours. Moreover, passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and make alternate arrangements during the specified restricted hours to avoid any inconvenience.
