Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Monday, January 18, 2021, inaugurated the Road Safety Month and while addressing the state regarding the same, he mentioned the need for Trauma Care Centers to be set up at places in the state which are prone to accidents. He also appealed to the people to work together to prevent accidents in the state and to abide by traffic rules.

The 32nd Road Safety Month was inaugurated at Sahyadri Guest House, and the event was jointly organized by Transport Department and Maharashtra State Road Safety Council.

Sharing more, he stated that if 'Sanyam' and 'Niyama' are not followed, then one can take control of the situation, as it is often the result of both the rules and restraint. Failing to manage these two could risk one's life. He stated that the roads are crossed not only by humans but also by animals, and as responsible people, we also need to take care of them in society. This can be and should be achieved once we understand the ease of following the rules of the road.

CM added that everyone should take care that Maharashtra's name does not appear in the country's accident list, and to ensure the same, drivers should follow the traffic rules voluntarily. Care should be taken that one's own life and the lives of others will not be endangered.

He emphasised that it was important to inform and raise awareness about new technologies, high-speed trains, etc, which will soon be a part of our lives. Officials working in these institutes need to know the rules and discipline, only then can they train others. Keeping this in mind, relevant departments have been asked to work in coordination to comply with traffic rules and discipline, whereby school children should be taught traffic rules.
