In order to ensure security, the Western Railway (WR) has provided the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel with ‘Segways’ which will be functional on WR station premises. The Segways will help the security personnel to carry out their duties more efficiently as they will be able to move faster in the railway station premises.
On the occasion of 70th Republic Day, Western Railway General Manager AK Gupta inaugurated six Segways at Churchgate railway station. Segways run on batteries and are self-balancing, two-wheeled electric vehicles.
The Segways will be functional at major stations including Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, Borivali and others. Initially, only one segway will be functional at each major station but Bandra Terminus will have two.
