Due to heavy rains, a part of Gokhale bridge collapsed on the railway tracks between Andheri and Vile Parle disrupting Western Railway services. Mumbai Fire Brigade and NDRF officials took almost 16 hours to restore the WR line and clearing the debris. Around 2:20 pm, the Virar-bound train left Goregaon and CSTM-bound train left Bandra station. 12-hours later, the first CSTM-bound train left Andheri station. After spending 16 hours in clearing the debris, the first Churchgate-bound train left Andheri station.

On Wednesday, local trains on both slow and fast line resumed at Andheri station but were running late. However, WR suspended slow local trains running towards Churchgate at Andheri station from platform no. 1 & 4.

It was fortunate that 47-year-old Gokhle bridge collapsed around 7:30 am when there were few people using the bridge. However, six people were injured and one is reported to be in a critical condition. This bridge connected Andheri (E) to Andheri (W). Meanwhile, Railway Minister Piyush.

After visiting the site, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced that audit will be carried out of 445 bridges. He added that the Indian Railways will not only bear the expenses but will also provide ₹1 lakh to the injured people.
