If you have ever travelled to Goa by train, you must be aware of the fancy Vistadome coach which offers breathtaking panoramic view of the Konkan coast en route to Goa. The stunning coach attached to the Dadar-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express took a hit and used to run all six days in a week.

However, it will only run thrice a week till October 20.

The Vistadome (glass roof) coach would be attached to the train leaving from Dadar on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Thus, it will be attached to the train departing from Madgaon on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The running days of the coach have been reduced due to the Konkan Railway Monsoon timetable, as per which, the speed of all trains has been lowered to 75-90 kmph from 110 kmph. This move is meant to avert any accidents in the hilly terrain, landslide-prone area.

A two-tier air-conditioned coach will be attached to the Express on days when the Vistadome coach won't tag along. The Central Railway had introduced the see-through Vistadome coach on the Mumbai-Goa route in September 2017 to promote tourism in the region. The special 40-seat and aesthetically-designed air-conditioned coach is a first-of-its-kind in Indian Railways, with rotatable chairs and hanging LCDs for entertainment.
