The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to purchase 108 coaches of metro trains for the 'Swami Samarth Nagar- Vikhroli Metro 6' route. The MMRDA has issued a tender to purchase these coaches at a cost of INR 989 crore.

The MMRDA is constructing an important 15.31 km metro line connecting western and eastern suburbs. This route includes 13 metro stations and is being constructed at a cost of around INR 6,672 crores. The MMRDA intends to put this route into service in 2025. Importantly, the issue of the controversial car shed in this route has also been resolved. Tenders will be invited for the work of the car shed soon. At the same time, in order to enter this route into the transport service within the scheduled time, it is necessary to complete the works like purchase of metro trains, their testing. Accordingly, MMRDA has now started the process of purchasing metro coaches.


The MMRDA has recently issued a tender for purchasing 108 coaches for 'Metro 6'. The respective contractor company will be responsible for the construction of containers, supply of containers, their testing and also the necessary training of the concerned employees.
