The third arm of the Sanatcruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension project is expected to be opened soon. Once the stretch is functional, it will significantly help in decongesting the Kapadia Nagar Junction.

This development came within a month of the launch of first two phases of this project.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is implementing the SCLR extension project in different phases. For those unversed, the first two phases were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 10.

Reduce travel time

The 400-crore project that links Chembur on the Eastern Express Highway to Vakola on the Western Express Highway, is likely to cut down the travel time by around 20 minutes as it would provide seamless connectivity between the Eastern and Western highways.

When is it expected to open?

The stretch between Kapadia Nagar Junction on CST Road and Vakola Nahha, which is close to the Western Express Highway junction, is expected to open before the end of the month.

Which routes will it connect?

The first phase was between Kalina, the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and the Kurla bus depot. The second phase starts from the Bharat Diamond Bourse and goes all the way to the Vakola Junction.

It will connect these roads - CST Road, Kalina, Hansbhugra Marg, Western Express Marg, Vakola Junction.

Moreover, it will provide a signal-free access to Western Express Highway (WEH) from Kurla.
