In a bid to run AC local between Virar and Churchgate, Western Railway cancelled 12 of its normal local services causing problems for commuters. In order to makeup for the loss, WR is planning to run a local train with three or six AC coaches on a temporary basis.

The WR is thinking to attach three AC coaches instead of running six AC coaches of 12- coach train. However, the said proposal has been sent to the railway board who then formed a committee to look in for the feasibility of running three or six AC coaches. The committee then made the report and submitted to the railway board.

Meanwhile, the ICF officials are carrying out trials of the AC coaches in regular trains and are also testing if they can attach three or six AC coaches on local trains.
